Mothers & Daughters Leading the #CompassWomen Curve

With the global celebration of #IWD19 last week (and our own celebratory blog right here) and the impending Mother’s Day celebrations, when better to celebrate our favourite Mother/Daughter combos for the #compasswomen series. Women who inspire one another and in doing so, inspire us. Whether that’s just bringing a smile to our faces, leading by example to change the world one footstep at a time, or just entertaining us and lifting us out of our everyday lives, the women who will follow over this month are our FAVOURITE family duos.

And to kick us off? Who better to celebrate decades of entertainment and spiriting raising than quintessential Hollywood generational double act, Goldie Hawn & Kate Hudson.

From Private Benjamin to Netflix’s very own Mrs Claus (*honourable mention right here for the small screen’s GREATEST EVER Santa Claus incarnation, Mr Kurt Russell), Goldie Hawn has been bringing her slapstick style and serious substance to the screen since the 1960s. Seemingly ageless, Ms Hawn fools you into taking her lightness as without depth and then sucker punches you with the emotional jab. Her heroines are fearless leaders, from the ubiquitous Private to First Wives Club, Death Becomes Her and Bird on a Wire. Her women do not need saving, although if it suits their purposes they may let you think they do before moving on with a sassy one liner.

Kate Hudson has learnt by example but still carved her own niche. The RomCom Queen of the Millenium it’s easy to forget her first eye catching foray into the big screen in 2000’s Almost Famous. She still pulls you in with that naive smile, but don’t be deceived – as with her mother, the wobbly lip betrays a steel spine.

Both have diversified over their careers into philanthropy, entrepreneurial global lifestyle businesses and outreach. The Goldie Hawn Foundation’s focus on childhood literacy and emotional mindfulness now spans over 13 years and has improved thousands of young people’s lives. These #compasswomen clearly put their money and good works where their mouths are. Few walk the walk like this Hawn/ Hudson duo. Incredible women with an incredible bond, and they definitely look like they’d be good company over a few Sunday mimosas…

Here’s to this Hollywood partnership and the global love and well-being they spread.
