So Much More Than Spice

"We all have these feelings, nobody's got this sh*t together. We're all over the place. We have good days and we have bad days. You're not weird and you're not on your own."

AMEN SISTER.

Always the #BestSpice, Melanie Chisholm has been lifting us up and inspiring all since she asked us to "Say You'll Be There" in 1996.

This 2019 version of Mel C isn't so far removed from the previous incarnations but, as illustrated in her Womens Heath UK cover this month, she is quite obviously in her kickass prime and keen to ensure we are all taking care of our physical and mental health. An exceptional ambassador for both, she is an inspiring candidate to front their Mind Issue and frankly her photo shoot alone is giving us all the spiritual motivation we need. That said, and all our ab-envy aside, her focus on empowering ALL (not just the #girlpower) to be their best selves and to spread a message of inclusivity and, well, kindness is heart warming, motivating, inspiring, incredible, not in the least surprising... Empowerment has always been top of this Spice Girl's priority list.

She has spoken of her own struggles in the past and literally no-one would envy her the rite-of-passage global scrutiny she suffered during the 90s and early Millennium as part of the most Famous Group On Earth (TM) Despite being pre-social media, those early years of public commentary could be brutal at times and the toll on her mental health has been well publicised. Now in her 40s she has taken those hard won battles and segued it into a very public, empathetic and experienced position on mental health and self care. She has walked the walk and now she can talk the talk. Not only that but having performed around all major Europe capitals at their respective Pride Fests this year, she has used her profile and position to be staunchly vocal in her support of the LGBTQ+ communities. Lets just call her Supportive Spice and get it over and done with but to our eyes, Mel C is so much more than a (former) Spice Girl.

We have loved Sporty since the nineties, but this wiser, more experienced, self confident and self aware Melanie C is out to make sure we all love ourselves, body and mind, and we are here for all of it.
